Verruca removal

Verrucas are a type of contagious wart that can grow anywhere on the foot. They are caused by a virus and can be very common and persistent.

They are usually harmless, and go away on their own, but this can take months or even years (especially in adults).

You might have had them for a long time and tried home treatments, like filing and acid treatment, without success. The good news is we can help.

At Your Podiatry, we have different ways of treating your verrucas, and can provide expert advice and proven treatment to shift these unsightly warts.

We will assess your verruca first to ensure your suitability for treatment. We’ll then work with you to develop an effective treatment plan, giving you the best possible chance of getting rid of your verruca.

Swift microwave therapy

We can help treat your verrucas with the latest Swift therapy, a new technology developed in the UK. It uses microwave energy, delivered through a special probe applied to the skin, to treat the affected area.

We can use it to treat multiple areas, without needing to apply post-treatment dressings. This means you can return to your sports and activities, including swimming, straight away.

Does it hurt?

This is a common question from our clients! It’s not uncommon to feel a sharp sensation, similar to an injection. However, unlike most treatments for verrucas, any pain you feel during your treatment should quickly subside. It’s very rare that clients suffer from any prolonged pain.

Who can have this treatment?

Most people with verrucas or other lesions should be able to have this treatment. However, there are some exceptions.

Swift is not recommended for people with diabetes, or people with implanted electronic devices. It’s also not recommended for use near metallic objects, such as metal foot implants or jewellery.

Your podiatrist will advise whether Swift microwave therapy is suitable for you.

How to get started

Please note, you will need to have an initial podiatry assessment before booking any verruca removal treatments.

Initial assessments are a 40-minute face-to-face consultation at our clinic in Surbiton.

This is a chance for our podiatrist to listen to what you need, diagnose your foot problem, create a treatment plan and – if appropriate – begin treatment.
